Prior to South Africa being dismissed for 269 in the 42nd over, Australia had reached 392 for eight with scores of 106 from Warner and 124 from Labuschagne.
Australia defeated South Africa by 123 runs in the second one-day international on Saturday at the Mangaung Oval thanks to centuries from David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne.
After the tourists were sent in, Warner hit 106 and Labuschagne 124 for an Australian total of 392 for eight.
Adam Zampa, a leg-spinner, took four for 48 as South Africa was dismissed for 269 in the 42nd over.
To get South Africa off to a strong start, Quinton de Kock (45) and captain Temba Bavuma (46) added 81 runs in nine overs before De Kock was caught and bowled by Nathan Ellis.
Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller both scored 49, but South Africa was unable to make a meaningful challenge as Zampa struck twice in consecutive overs to dismiss Bavuma and Aiden Markram.
“Our intent and execution tonight was as good as it gets,” Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh said.
During their opening partnership of 109 runs off 72 balls, which included Travis Head smashing 64 runs off 36 balls with nine fours and three sixes, Warner and Head dominated South Africa’s fast bowlers.
When left-arm wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi dismissed Head and Marsh with back-to-back deliveries, South Africa enjoyed a little relief.
However, Labuschagne produced yet another player of the match effort after his match-winning 80 not out in the opening game at the same venue on Thursday, when he was brought into the lineup as a concussion replacement for Cameron Green.
“Not within my power”
Warner scored his 20th one-day international century off 85 deliveries as he and Labuschagne put on 151 for the third wicket off 124 balls.
Even more quickly, Labuschagne needed just 80 balls to reach his second one-day international century.
His two hundreds were produced in the nation where he was born. In Potchefstroom in March 2020, he reached 108.
“The boys at the top got us off to a lightning start and put pressure on the bowlers,” said Labuschagne, who claimed that his lack of selection for the World Cup was “not in my control – I am concentrating on enjoying my cricket and playing as well as I can.”
It was the fourth-highest total conceded by South Africa and the third-highest total for Australia in the 50-over format.
